Land Clearing and Plantel Development at Finca Los Toritos — Opening Up Sweeping Ridge Views

One of the most transformative phases of any mountain property development is the moment the land gets opened up. At Finca Los Toritos — the 1-hectare parcel section within Finca Magnolia — that phase is well underway. Heavy equipment moved in to begin cutting and leveling individual plantels along the mountain ridge, and what was revealed in the process was nothing short of spectacular.

A plantel is the prepared building pad where a future home will sit. Each one is cut into the hillside and leveled to create a stable, flat platform with proper drainage and access. Done well, it's equal parts engineering and art — you're working with the terrain, not against it, positioning each pad to take maximum advantage of the slope, the breeze, and the view.

The ridge here runs through some of the highest ground on the property, and as trees were cleared and the earth was graded, the view corridors that opened up were genuinely jaw-dropping. From these pads you're looking out across the mountains of Costa Rica's Southern Zone — rolling green ridgelines, jungle valleys, and on a clear day, glimpses toward the Pacific coast. It's the kind of view that makes you understand immediately why someone would want to build here.

Beyond the views, this work adds measurable, permanent value to each parcel. A cleared and leveled plantel dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of starting construction — your builder is working on a prepared site rather than raw jungle hillside. Road access has been roughed in to reach each pad, and the work done here sets up each owner to move from raw land to breaking ground quickly.

The photos in this article capture the work in progress: the equipment on site, the freshly cut pads taking shape, and that view opening up as the canopy pulls back. Parcel 7 is already sold. A limited number of 1-hectare lots remain, with shared access to Finca Magnolia's 100+ acres of common areas — waterfalls, swimming pools, river trails, and ranch facilities.
