Plantel Excavation & Site Preparation – Enclave Lot B
Enclave Lot B begins its transformation from raw hillside land into a premiere residential building site. Situated in Platanillo, Costa Rica — a lush mountain community perched above the surf town of Dominical — the property sits at an elevation that captures sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and rainforest canopy. With architectural plans finalized and construction set to begin soon, the first phase of work has been dedicated to precise land preparation — maximizing the build pad, opening the views, and laying the groundwork for a home built to last.
A Hidromek HX140 excavator was brought in to scrape and level the plantel (building platform) to its full potential. Every square meter of buildable surface was reclaimed from the hillside, creating a flat, stable pad sized to accommodate the approved architectural footprint with room to spare. The cut slopes were graded and squared to minimize long-term erosion risk.
To open the panoramic mountain and valley views that define this property, a selective clearing of small trees was carried out along the view corridors. Rather than clear-cutting, individual trees that were blocking sight lines were removed with surgical precision, preserving the surrounding canopy and the natural privacy of the site while dramatically improving the view from the future living areas.
Erosion control was addressed immediately following the excavation work. The freshly cut slopes were planted with vetiver grass and other deep-rooted cover species proven to anchor soil in Costa Rica's tropical conditions. This approach stops erosion at the source rather than addressing it after the fact.
A network of trails was cut through the property, connecting the main build site to the lower portions of the lot. Over 200 trees — including palms and a variety of native tropical species — were planted along these trail corridors. These plantings serve multiple purposes: they stabilize the trail edges, create natural windbreaks, attract wildlife, and begin the process of turning the raw cut slopes into a lush, manicured jungle property.
Architectural plans are finalized and the design reflects the site's best attributes — elevated position, sweeping views, and proximity to mature forest. Construction begins soon.
