Property overview

# Casa Escondida – Japanese-Inspired Riverside Sanctuary in Ojochal

Ojochal stands apart as one of Costa Rica's most culturally rich communities, where artistic expression and environmental stewardship define the character of this progressive Southern Pacific enclave.

A living river winds through this 1.5-acre property, its gentle waters creating an ever-present soundtrack to daily life at Casa Escondida. This newly constructed Japanese-themed residence transforms the natural landscape into an integrated whole—where water, stone, and architecture speak the same design language. The property encompasses 273 square meters of precisely finished living space across three bedrooms, a study, and two full bathrooms, set within sprawling grounds of nearly 1.6 acres.

The home's centerpiece reveals itself as visitors discover the serene pond and footbridge that anchor the entire architectural composition. A hidden library and office space—accessible through a concealed entrance—provides an intimate retreat for writing, reading, or focused work. The wine room offers serious collectors a dedicated climate-controlled sanctuary for their acquisitions.

Beyond the main residence, entertainment unfolds along a 27-square-meter pool surrounded by manicured outdoor space. An adjoining BBQ area frames the perfect setting for gathering as the tropical light fades into evening. Every detail reflects a thoughtful marriage of Japanese design principles with modern comfort and Costa Rican natural abundance.

Casa Escondida transcends conventional real estate. This is a contemplative space where refined aesthetics meet the untamed beauty of the Southern Pacific region—a sanctuary engineered for those seeking both seclusion and sophistication.
